German Pancakes with Vanilla Buttermilk Syrup

This recipe was perfect for Sunday morning breakfast!  It was quick and easy to make, at only 30 minutes start to finish.  It made enough syrup to have on hand for awhile, which will be great for the kids’ waffles before school!

German Pancakes with Vanilla Buttermilk Syrup

German Pancakes

Ingredients:

  • 6 Eggs
  • 1 C. Milk
  • 1 C. Flour
  • Dash of salt
  • 1 Tbls. Sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 Cube butter
  • Cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
  2. Melt butter in a 9×13 pan
  3. Mix eggs, milk, flour, salt and sugar in a blender, pour into pan
  4. Sprinkle with cinnamon
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until peaks are lightly browned
  6. Serve with butter and vanilla buttermilk syrup

Vanilla Buttermilk Syrup

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Cook butter, sugar and buttermilk over medium heat
  2. Remove from heat and add soda and vanilla
  3. You can use it right away, but it does thicken a bit upon standing
  4. Lasts for 2 weeks, but best when it’s first made
